Bremen Rock City
Coming Soon…May 16 - 19, Original Kids Theatre Company - 130 King Street, Covent Garden Market, London. Recommended for all ages. Music by Colleen Dauncey; Lyrics by Akiva Romer-Segal; Book by Sara Farb; 75 minutes (no intermission); Director/Choreographer: Alyssa Reeve; Musical Director: Jake Schindler. Loosely based on a Brothers Grimm fairy tale, this original Canadian musical is created by the songwriting team of Colleen Dauncey and Akiva Romer-Segal, the composers of ‘‘Prom Queen: The Musical’‘! Bremen Rock City follows the story of Jack, a guitar-shredding donkey, who escapes from his boring life on the farm to pursue his dream of becoming a rock star. On Jack’s quest he forms a band called The Strays, which includes Duke, a hopelessly muzzled canine drummer; the artistic and sardonic cat, Lex, who plays a fierce bass; and a meek baby rooster Simon, with the riff-tastic voice of an angelfish. The Strays head to Bremen Rock City, where music legends are born! But Jack soon gets swept up in the world of free snacks, hugs, and rock n’ roll, and must decide what’s more important: fame or friendship. Rhinoceros Presented by Walkerville Centre For The Creative Arts
Continues to…May 11, Walkerville Collegiate Institute - 2100 Richmond St, Windsor. The Walkerville Centre For The Creative Arts presents Rhinoceros, Eugene Ionesco’s brilliantly absurd comedy. The sublime is confused with the ridiculous in this savage commentary on the human condition, a staple of every theatre classroom and 20th century drama. A small town is besieged by one roaring citizen who becomes a rhinoceros and proceeds to trample on the social order. As more citizens are transformed into rhinoceroses, the trampling becomes overwhelming, and more and more citizens become rhinoceroses. One sane man, Berenger, remains, unable to change his form and identity. Cost: $15 (Adult) $10 (Student).
