Behind the Scenes Curator-led Tour
May 13, 10am-12pm, presented by Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology. Discover this National Historic Site from an entirely different perspective. Roll up your sleeves, put on your hard hat, and go behind the scenes of 1859 Gartshore pumping engines. Get up close and personal with the walking beam, the surge tanks and the oil cups. Visit the artefact storage buildings and learn more about Hamilton’s fascinating industrial history. Explore the 1913 building, see our largest artefacts and learn about Hamilton’s first electric Pumphouse. Immerse yourself in the complete history of this fascinating museum, learn about the real people, hear the real story, and depart with a clear understanding of how this marvel of engineering truly worked. Cirque Du Soleil – Corteo
Coming Soon…May 22 to May 26, 101 York Blvd., Hamilton, presented by FirstOntario Centre. The concept and disposition of the stage bring the audience in a theatrical atmosphere like never seen before in Cirque du Soleil arena shows. The set curtains, inspired by the Eiffel Tower, and the central curtains, which were hand painted, give a grandiose feel to the stage. This sets the tone for the poetry of Corteo. The cast of Corteo includes 51 acrobats, musicians, singers and actors from all around the world. This unique production, directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca, first premiered in Montreal under the Big Top in April 2005. Since then, the show has amazed 8 million people in 19 countries.
