Royal Botanical Gardens' Colour Comes Alive

Tuesday, Jul 1 2003 to Monday, September 01, 2003
Royal Botanical Gardens - 680 Plains Rd. W., Burlington
Herbs are used to make medicine, enhance a recipe, decorate a dinner table, or accent an outdoor garden. We encounter herbs daily, so Royal Botanical Gardens showcases the diversity of these amazing plants at the Herb Faire, August 23 and 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Herb Faire is one of Canada’s largest herbal festivals, with vendors from across the country. Among the botanical products available are fresh and dried herbs, perennial plants, garden accessories and pottery, aromatherapy, oils and vinegars, jellies and soaps. The popular Gourmet Food, Wine and Beer Pavilion gives visitors an opportunity to sample specialty dishes created by some of the area’s best-known restaurants and caterers, sip Ontario wines, and taste premium ales and lagers from Ontario microbreweries. Home gourmets can enter the Herb Faire’s annual Pesto Competition. Just bring a sample with the recipe to the demonstration area. Prizes will be awarded. A children’s activity area featuring crafts and entertainment makes Herb Faire a fun and educational weekend for every member of the family. Admission to the Herb Faire is $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and youth, and $2.50 for children aged five to 12. Family admission is $20, based on up to two adults and four children under 18. Call (905) 527-1158 for more information.
